Project Coordinator
| As Project Coordinator, María
is responsible for the statewide implementation
of Project MAX and Bright Beginnings Migrant Education
Even Start projects including overall and local
management of project sites and direct supervision
of Even Start staff. Her duties include: |

Supervising
project staff based locally in seven sites
to include: Family Education Specialists,
Adult Instructors, Home Visitors and Data
Flow Specialist |

Developing and expediting
an annual plan of action for the identification
of MEES-eligible families and coordinating
recruitment activities at the seven sites |
 |
Planning and implementing
professional development activities for staff,
and |
 |
Coordinating externally
with state and local entities and programs
and maintaining interagency relationships
with: Migrant Education, Migrant Head Start,
Migrant Health, Migrant Workforce Development,
and other educational and social services
providers. |

| Prior to working for the Illinois
Migrant Council, María spent 11 years working
for Seven Oaks Child Development Center, Migrant
Head Start. Her positions at Seven Oaks C.D.C. started
as Teacher and went to Director. Her duties in these
positions included implementation of a bilingual
multi-cultural early childhood curriculum, supervision
of the early childhood program and staff, development
and provision of training for the education staff,
preparation of annual grant proposal, management
of community and public relations, and coordination
of services with the Tiempo de Valor Migrant Even
Start Project. |
| As an independent consultant,
María has provided training on the implementation
of curricula for the Illinois Migrant Head Start
Project. She is fluent in both Spanish and English,
and has experience in fiscal and administrative
management, as well as staff supervision and development. |
