Migrant Education Even Start (MEES)
Illinois MEES operates two projects that are located in seven sites throughout the State: Project MAX, Maximizing Family Literacy with Migrant Education Even Start; and Successful Transitions Underscore Bright Beginnings for Students and Parents.
Migrant Education Even Start is dedicated to the goal of family literacy and features:
Early childhood education
Parenting education
Adult education
Intergenerational literacy activities
Other essential components include:
Needs-based instruction to help families meet literacy goals and high content standards
Use of technology as a tool for learning
Professional development
Service delivery coordination
Dissemination of effective practices
Continuity of services for mobile families
Participants are families with child(ren) from birth through age seven who are eligible to participate in the Migrant Education Program.
